Russell Irish Setters

Preserving Dual Purpose Irish Setters

Russell Irish Setters thanks all of our wonderful puppy buyers and friends for their support over the years.  We are slowing the activities here, and will only be breeding if we are looking for a dog ourselves, or if we have a completely pre-sold litter.   It is time for us to get back to enjoying our dogs like we used to; enjoying hunting over them, and hiking with them, and playing with them again.  The years of travel, competing, and volunteering have been fulfilling, and yet we find it is time to step back and re-evaluate our priorities.

We have four fabulous dogs at this time, including two lovely males that are available at stud by private treaty.  Please do contact us if you are serious about an old fashioned, good looking, family hunting companion.  Our priority when/if we breed again will be to find homes that value the Irish Setter for its historically excellent temperament, and biddable, fun-loving work ethic.   Non-Refundable Deposits of $1000 will secure a pup from a future litter,  when we have a few deposits we will breed, unless we are doing a litter for ourselves.

We have produced field champions or test titled dogs and show champions in five countries.  The Russell legacy lives on through the dedicated breeders who have taken our dogs and bred them, and more importantly in the loving companion homes who enjoy our dogs for the unfailingly wonderful family dogs that they are.

Russell Irish Setters is committed to the preservation of the breed as a beautiful hunting companion of the traditional type.   We actively hunt and have extensively competed in field trials, hunt tests, dog shows, and obedience trials.    We incorporate dogs of North American and European bloodlines, from field and show stock, into the breeding program.
