There is a new Album in the Photo Section of the Pups at 5 Weeks!
Tate is a really fast maturing young dog, just out of Derby Stakes and about to begin running at Gun Dog level, which is very quick for an Irish Setter. (Hope's dam Raisin also ran in Gun Dog stakes as a very young dog, so I hope that thie bodes well for the maturing speed of this litter.) He is a dog who takes training well, has a lot of groundspeed, and abundant natural ability. His first litter out of Hope's half sister Rumour has produced a number of very nice field trial prospects with multiple placements in juvenile stakes, excellent personal hunting dogs in their first season out, and family pets with excellent temperaments. I have never used a dog twice, especially so closely together, but I have had so many positive comments about the Tate X Rumour pups that the choice was clear when the sire I had planned on was temporarily not available. Tate's pedigree includes some of the finest field trial dogs in the United States including, twice, Fred aka National Field Champion National amateur Field Champion ISCA National Walking Champion FC AFC Iskote Ani-Mosh.
Hope, like her dam, was exceptionally easy to break out, and had her first Shooting Dog placement in her first broke season. Her range and speed are moderate, her nose exceptional. She is a strong female, with an excellent quality, moderate quantity, mahogany coat, and black pigment. Hope is very fond of people and a lovely sweet house companion. She takes training a bit too seriously, and I think that the combination with Tate will allow her pups to take a bit more training pressure, as was found with the Rumour pups by Tate last year. Hope's sire is my Norwegian import Can Ch Saeterelva's Russell FD Am JH who after finishing his show championship and mid level field dog test title now lives with Don and Gail as a personal gun dog and is in seventh heaven! Hope's dam is Can Dual Champion Amateur Field Champion Am Dual Champion Highfeather Raise 'N A Ruckus Can Field dog Excellent Companion Dog Am Master Hunter CD Versatile Certificate Excellent - Raisin, who at age 10 is still willing and able to trial, allowing newcomers to the sport to run a broke dog in order to learn the game.
